THE PARIS NEWS, Tuesday, Apr. 29, 1941: "Hugo, Okla. (Special) - L. Z. Beachem, 20-year-old Hugo Negro, was fatally stabbed with a pair of scissors Monday at the state penitentiary at McAlester, according to word received here. Records show that Beachem, arrested August 16, 1940, by Constables C. A. Pitts and Lonnie Wright, was charged with burgulary and on September 13, was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary. His father, Tom Beachem, is reported living in Paris, TX."
