THE PARIS NEWS, Sun, Jul 7, 1946, p.9: "JOHN HILL BATSON HONEY GROVE (Special) Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon for John Hill Batson, who died at home Thursday night, of gasoline burns and shock, suffered the previous Friday. He was watching men working watching men working on a car at the West Main Street repair shop when a gas tank exploded and drenched him with blazing gasoline. Elder Helms, Christian Church minister, conducted the funeral at the residence, and Cooper’s Funeral Home here made interment at Blossom. Born in Harrison County, May 8, 1871, Mr. Batson married Miss Josie Allen, Sept, 28, 1907. She and these children survive: Herman Batson, Dallas; James Batson, Borger; Mrs. Eunico Dooly, Grayville, La.; Mrs. Estelle Clark and William Batson, Honey Grove."
