THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 8 Dec 1988. 'Earl (Mutt) Bassano, 93, of Paris died at McCuistion Medical Center Saturday, 3 Dec 1988. Services were held Tuesday, 6 Dec, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cline Davis officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Bassano was born 3 Sep 1895, in Paris, a son of Walter W. and Byrd Williams Bassano. He attended Paris schools and was a graduate of Paris High School. He was a member of the first football team at Paris High School. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the Navy. He was a retired cotton classer and worked for Anderson and Clayton in New Orleans, La., and Memphis, Tenn. He returned to Paris in 1960. He was a charter member of the Paris Lions Club and was a member of the old Masters Four Quartet. Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Georgia B. Bassano; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alfred Bassano of Paris and Mrs. Charles Bassano of Little Rock, Ark., and four nephews; and five nieces.' On the same stone with Myrtle Southerland Bassano.
