LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, December 28, 1989, p. 4. 'Tom Baxter of the Pinhook-Faulkner community, Rt. 1, Blossom, died at McCuistion Medical Center at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20. Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willie Johnson and Dr. Pat Otwell officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery. Mr. Baxter was born April 29, 1899, in the Red Oak community of Lamar County, a son of B. B. and Annie Laurie Tippit Baxter. He attended Red Oak, Pinhook and Rosa Pearson schools. He married Mary Virginia (Vergie) Brown on March 17, 1929, at Woodland. They lived in the Pinhook-Faulkner community until five years ago where he operated a store for 50 years and was a rancher. he retired from the grocery business in 1960 and from ranching five years ago. He was a member of the Woodland Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmy (Tommie) Fodge of Rt. 6, Paris; two grandsons, Larry Fodge of Rt. 6, Paris, and Kelly Fodge of Rt. 6, Paris; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vera Linville of Arlington.'
