LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 28 Jun 1984. 'Charles James (Charlie) Basham, 657-3rd SE, died at Cherry Street Manor at 5:20 a.m. Sunday, 24 June 1984. Funeral services were scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday, 25 Jun., at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Smith officiating. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Mr. Basham was born 18 Feb 1913, in Delta County, a son of Harvey James Basham and Annie King Basham. He married Ellie Burchett on 23 Mar 1935, in Lake Creek. He retired from Elm Fork Construction Co. in 1972. He attended schools in Slate Shoals. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Charlene Dingman of Paris; one granddaughter, Deedee Dingman of Paris; one grandson, Dickie D. Dingman of Paris; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Mattison of Paris, Mrs. Virgie Ruthart of Glory and Mrs. Jennie Mae Hannibas of Cooper; one brother, Ollie Basham of Paris and several nieces and nephews.'
