THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, November 7, 1946, p. 15: "Sam D. Barton of Cunningham, 59, a retired merchant, died suddenly at home about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday. The funeral was arranged for 3 p.m. Thursday at Cunningham Pentecostal Church, J. M. Grant Funeral Home here making burial in Woodard Cemetery, Surviving are Mrs. Barton; a brother, and two daughters, Mrs. Sam Lewis and Miss Margie E. Barton, both of Paris."
