THE PARIS NEWS-Jul.8,1971-Miss Marie Barton, 649 Grand Avenue, died Tuesday, July 6,1971. Services were held Thursday afternoon at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with the Reverend Clayton Forthman, First Presbyterian Church, Paris, and the Reverend John G. Barton, a nephew, of El Dorado, Arkansas officiating. Miss Barton was the daughter of Dr. William Jefferson Barton and his wife, Marion Henry Barton. Born in Paris, she attended Mount Holyoke College and the University of Chicago and taught Latin and German at Paris High School, later teaching Vernon and Schofield School for Girls Kerrville. Miss Barton was the author of numerous stories and poetry. She is survived by a sister, Miss Pauline Barton, Paris; two brothers, Rev. Max Barton, Paris and Cecil E. Barton, Hooks; also six nieces and nephews.
