THE PARIS NEWS, 6 Dec 1959: “Paul E. Barnett, 814 1st SW, retired salesman, died Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Hospital, after short illness. The funeral was set for 4 p.m. Monday at Fry and Gibbs chapel, with interment in Evergren Cemetery, Dr. Ronald Prince of First Baptist Church officiating. Born in Lamar County, 26 Jul 1892, Paul Barnett was a son of the late J. G. and Paralee (Vickers) Barnett. He had been a salesman for the old Paris Wholesale Grocer Company here from 1909 until his retirement about five years ago. He was serving as Sunday school secretary and member of the First Baptist Church board of deacons at the time of his death. His late wife was the former Miss Jessie Cameron, whom he married in 1917. Surviving are a son, James C. Barnett, Abilene, and two daughters Mrs. Clark Estes Jr., and Mrs. Willard Marshall, Paris, and three grandchildren.”
