THE PARIS NEWS, Mon., Feb. 26, 1996, p.8A. 'Hugo, OK - The Rev. Thelbert L. 'T.L.' Barnes, 76, of Paris died Saturday, Feb. 24, 1996, at Paris Health Care Center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Floyd Woodard officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Barnes was born Aug. 16, 1919, in Gay, OK, a son of William Thomas and Nancy Ellen Jones Barnes. He was a Baptist minister for 31 years, ministering in several local churches. He had served in the Army. Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Marie Carson Barnes of Paris; two daughters, Joyce Marie Barnes of Paris and Melba Jo Barnes Mesa. AZ; three sons, Thelbert Gene Barnes of Corpus Christi, Sam Wade Barnes of CA and Jimmy Barnes of Mesa, AZ; one brother, Marvin Barnes of Roseburg, OR; three sisters, Ruby Burton of Hugo, Lela Abney of Hugo and Bell Abney of Las Cruces, NM; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.'
