THE PARIS NEWS, Friday, October 17, 1958, p. 2: “James N. Barnes. Paris News Service DEPORT -- Funeral of James Nason Barnes, Biardstown, who died at his home Thursday at 6 p.m. will be held at Grant Funeral Home here, Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock. The Rev. Lee Smith, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church at Biardstown, and the Rev. C. G. Renfro, pastor of the Deport Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be J. A. Sparks, Delbert Norman, Robert McKinney, Henry Pickering, Sam Ingram and Dennis Bolton. Mr. Barnes, son of James H. and Ollie Rainwater Barnes, was born July 9, 1900, in Aily, Ark. He moved to Lamar County in 1930 and had lived at Biardstown for four years. He is survived by his wife and these children: James Barnes, Paris; Hoyt Barnes, Shady Grove; Miss Mary Fay Barnes, Abilene; Donald R. Barnes, Paris; Bobby Barnes, Biardstown, and Mrs. Sue King, Delmar; his father, James H. Barnes, Milton; these brothers and sisters, Pat Barnes and Aubrey Barnes, Milton; R. F. Barnes, Bisbee, Ariz.; and a sister, Mrs. Imogene Staggers, Compton, Calif.”
