LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 3 Oct 1985. 'Lee Roy Barber, 81, Rt. 1, Powderly, died Thursday, 26 Sep 1985 at 1:30 a.m. in Medical Plaza Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, 28 Sep 1985 in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Mr. Barber was born 2 Apr 1904, in the Page's Chapel community, a son of George and Della Bryant Barber. He was retired from the Fort Worth Water Department and was a member of the Ramseur Baptist Church. He married Viola Esther Irene Marie Lambert on 17 Sep 1927. Surviving are his wife; four sons, Harrell Barber of San Benito; Kenneth Barber of Powderly, Bill Barber of Irving and Travis Barber of Powderly; two daughters, Alta Eagleman of Fort Worth and Pat Crane of Springtown; a half-brother, Holmer Pitcock of Magnolia; a half-sister, Mrs. Wayne (Birtie Mae) Rodgers of Longview; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.'
