THE PARIS NEWS, 27 Nov 1975, p. 13: “Mrs. L. J. Bankhead - Mrs. L. J. Bankhead Sr., of 630-8th SE, died at her residence at 4:45 p.m. Funeral services are pending with Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. Mrs. Bankhead was born Oct. 31, 1884 in Paris, a daughter of the late John Chisum Gibbons and Katherine Burmingham. She married L. J. Bankhead on April 26, 1910. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1963. She attended public schools in Paris and attended the Visitation Convent in St. Louis, Mo. She had lived most of her life in Paris and was a charter member of the Kings Daughters and a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons Edward G. Bankhead of Paris and L. J. Bankhead Jr. of Paris; six daughters, Mrs. Wayne Anderson of Paris, Mrs. James Griffin of Paris, Mrs. Conard Florence of Fort Worth, Mrs. Walter Phelan of Tyler, Mrs. Jerry Ormond of Beverly Hills, Calif , and Mrs. Harry Camper of Welch, W. Va.; and 16 grandchildren.“

THE PARIS NEWS, 28 Nov 1975, p. 6: “Bankhead Services - Mrs. L. J. (Mary Katherne) Bankhead, 630-8th SE, died at her residence Wednesday at 4:4 5 p.m. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Sam Metzgar will officiate. Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fry & Gibbs Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Bankhead was born Oct. 31, 1884, in Paris, daughter of the late John Chisum Gibbons and Katherine Bermingham. She married L. J. Bankhead April 26, 1910. He preceded her death on Oct. 24, 1963. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Survivors include two sons, Edward G. Bankhead and Jack Bankhead Jr., both of Paris; six daughters, Mrs. Wayne Anderson of Paris, Mrs. James Griffin of Paris, Mrs. Conard Florence of Fort Worth, Mrs. Walter Phelan of Tyler, Mrs. Jerry Ormond of Beverly Hills, Calif., Mrs. Harry Camper of Welch, W.
