THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., Jan. 24, 1997, p.16A: 'Dora Gladys Banister, 97, of Paris died Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, in Mesquite. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Miller officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Mrs. Banister was born Aug. 12, 1899, in Tom's Creek, VA, to Aaron and Martha E. Jackson Collier. She was a graduate of Honey Grove High School, a member of First United Methodist Church and its New Era Class and Sarah Anna Circle. She was a member of Paris Chapter No.5, Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of McCuistion Auxiliary. Surviving are two sons, Jack W. Banister of Fort Worth and Robert L. Banister of Mesquite; a daughter, Juanita L. Banister Prevey of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Collier Deweese of McAllen; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, James Calvin Banister Jr. in June 1973, three brothers; one sister; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.' On the same stone with James Calvin Banister.
