THE PARIS NEWS, Tue., Dec. 24, 1996, p.14A. '(Picture) Gilbert Bandel, 87, of Paris died at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, in the chapel of First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Miller officiating. Burial will be in Wabaunsee County Cemetery near Alma, KS. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Mr. Bandel was born Aug. 24, 1909, in Alma, KS, to Frank William and Mina 'Minnie' Dorethea Laging Bandel. He married Mary Helen Bowes June 1, 1938. She died July 9, 1980. He worked in the office and accounting department of an industrial painting firm until his retirement in 1972. He was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Paris. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and of its Builders Sunday School Class. Surviving are a son, Philip B. Bandel of Paris; two grandsons, Phillip B. Bandel Jr. and William Christopher Bandel; and one brother, Frank Bandel of Alma. If desired, memorials may be made to the organ fund of First United Methodist Church.'
