LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, July 2,1964: "Jack Roy Ballard, 97, of 806 W. Cherry, a retired trucker, was found dead of apparent heart attack, Saturday morning east of Lake Creek. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in Gene Roden and Sons chapel here, burial being made in Meadowbrook Gardens. Hubert Roach and Jimmye Newman, Church of Christ minsters, officiated. He was born in Texas, April 4, 1897, son of Thomas and Columbia (Starnes) Ballard. He married Miss Essie Fuston in 1917, and she survives, besides two children, Roy Ballard of Paris and Mrs. Marvin Brown of Marshall; five grandchildren and these sisters: Mrs. R.L. Jackson and Mrs. Annie Hewgley of Paris, and Mrs. Esker Warren of Dallas." Submitted by Linda Broyles.
