Francis Willets Bassano was born February 4, 1827 at Handsworth, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. He was the oldest child of Francis and Mary (Willets) Bassano who immigrated in 1850 with their seven children. He married Lucy C. Nash June 13, 1860.
