June 18, 1970; Jesse Lee Baker, 67, of Happy, Texas, formerly of Paris, died June 10 in Tulia. Funeral services were held June 13 at the Leverett & Steele Funeral Home chapel with interment at the Hopewell Cemetery. The Rev. W.T. Dunn and the Rev. J.L. Wideman officiated. A son of the late Robert W. and Tommie (Hudspeth) Baker, Jesse Baker was born in Paris in 1902. He and Lorene Bonner were married in 1937 in Clovis, New Mexico. Surviving besides his wife are a son, Jerry Baker, Guymon, OK; five daughters; Mrs. Joan Schiller, San Angelo; Mrs. Rosetta Gregory, Giles, NM; Mrs. Lavonia Guthrie, Lathrop Wells, NV; Mrs. Sharon Strohmeyer, Happy, and Mrs. Mollie Erkenbrack, Anadarko, OK; a sister, Mrs. Wilma Morris, Lubbock; three brothers, Jack Baker, Morton; Less Baker of Oklahoma and the Rev. W.W. Baker, Perry, OK. An aunt, Mrs. Allie Crow of Paris, 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
