THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, undated: “Jackie B. Baker, 41, of 845 East Washington Street, died Sunday, August 7, 1977, in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Fry and Gibbs Chapel, with the Rev. Edwin Davis officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Baker was born in Vernon on December 25, 1935, son of Buster Baker and Lena Pearl Stephens Baker. He married Miss Jamarlon Smith in Paris on June 16, 1956. He was a member of the North Paris Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was employed as an industrial electrician with the Sherwood Medical Industries at Commerce. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mitzie Loftin of Paris; two sons, Guy Lynn Baker of San Diego, California and Chris Baker of Paris; his parents of Vernon; six sisters, Mrs. C.S. Walker of Vernon, Mrs. Joe F. Collins of Fort Worth, Mrs. Richard F. Holden of Purcell, Missouri, Mrs. Gerald Anderson of Miami, Texas, Mrs. Mark Norris of Arlington and Mrs. Carolyn Taylor of Amarillo; and four brothers, Joe Carroll Baker of Vernon, Donald Ray Baker of San Diego, California, and Robert Dean Baker of Amarillo. Pallbearers were Ronnie Morton, Jessie McGee, Cleo Holms, Jack Rose, A.J. Rose and Gilbert Graum.” Submitted by Mary J. Tallant.
