Three persons are known dead, probably 8,000 are homeless, and Paris is mostly a smouldering ruin today after fire that swept thru the business and residence sections last night and did damage estimated at from $8,000,000 to $10,000,000. Mayor McCrustion this morning made the estimate of loss and said: ‘No survey of sufficient accuracy has been completed to enable me to announce definitely the number of homeless. The known deaths are three.’ The first casualty in the fire became known today when the body of John Straub was found in the ruins of his home. Mrs. W. J. Bailey 50 years old, died from heart failure, caused by excitement. Mrs. A. C. Poul [Paul], an aged woman whose house on South Main street was burned, is missing and is believed to have burned to death.“
