Jan 5, 1972; Funeral services for 1st Sgt. Robert Reese Bailey, 51, a career Army man of more than 22 years service will be held in Paris at Gene Roden's Sons chapel, Thursday at 2 p.m., friends to be received at the funeral home Wednesday between 7 and 9 p.m. Officiating at the service will be Chaplain Richard Schlater of Ft. Wolters, mineral Wells, a detachment from that post to participate in the military burial in Presbyterian Cemetery at Chicota. Sergeant Bailey, son of the late Dr. and Mrs. P.C. Bailey born at Powderly, July 3, 1920 died of natural causes in the Ft. McPherson, GA hospital on January 2. He lived in College Park GA and was stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA., completing more than 22 years Army service, including Okinawa, Japan, Alaska, Vietnam, Korea and Taiwan. His numerous awards included the Bronze Star with Oakleaf Cluster; Army Commendation, Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals, the latter also with Oakleaf Cluster. Surviving are Sergeant Bailey's wife, the former Dorothy Lee McDaniel, whom he married in 1947; two daughters, Mrs. Linda Lou Dean and Mrs. Patsy Liles, College Park, GA; one grandson and two brothers; Wayne E. Bailey, Chicota and Pat C. Bailey, Gainesville.
Tombstone is inscribed, ‘Sgt. US Army WW II, Korea & Vietnam.’
