THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 13 Aug 1987: 'Marshall B. Bailey of Deport died Saturday, 8 Aug 1987 at his home. Services were held Monday, 10 Aug, at the First Baptist Church in Deport with the Rev. Jim Spikes and the Rev. Glenn Renfro officiating. Grant Funeral Home made burial in Highland Cemetery. Mr. Bailey was born 2 Sep 1909, in Pattonville, a son of Powhatan and Margie Green Bailey. On 7 Jan 1928, he married Lennie Newsom. He was a retired farmer and was formerly employed by UARCO. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Boyd Bailey of Houston and Pat Bailey of Reno; one brother, Chester Bailey of Dumas; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Holbert of Bakersfield, Calif., nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1964. Bearers were deacons of First Baptist Church in Deport.'
