Notes

Information from CJ Cabourne, juneville@roadrunner.com,  11 Jul 2010: Following is the obituary notice I found among my grandfather, J. E. Bagley's, effects. This was his mother. She died Oct. 8, 1950. I don't know what newspaper this appeared in as all the identifying information has been removed from the clipping. Her husband, Nathan Floyd Bagley died in 1907 in Lamar County, TX:
"Mrs. N. F. Bagley, 89, Dies Sunday at Home Mrs. N. F. Bagley, 89, a widow, formerly Miss Mary Ellen [sic] Brannon, died at home, Rt. 1, Paris, Sunday morning at 10:10 o'clock. She was born in Atlanta, Ga., April 16, 1861, daughter of the late S. Brannon and wife, who was Miss Nancy Jane Pool. The funeral was arranged for 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at Emberson Baptist Church, with interment in Prairie Ridge Cemetery by Brown-Roden Funeral Home. The Rev. J. L. Wideman, Baptist minister, had charge of services. Named as pallbearers were these grandsons: Russell Williams, L. D. Head, Troy Head, Dewrell Williams, Kenneth Smith and Doyle Hively. Mrs. Bagley leaves these children: Mrs. A. L. Williams, Caviness community; Mrs. Walker Smith, Soper, Okla.; J. E. Bagley and W. T. Bagley, Fort Worth; 33 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren." [The date and newspaper for this obituary is: THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, October 9, 1950, p. 3.]

NOTE: The submitter also gives this information. Mary Luella Bagley, was a resident of Lamar County from about 1883 until her death in 1950. There is a small error in the article regarding her name which I did not correct. Her middle name was "Luella," the paper says "Ellen," she actually went by "Ella."
