THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 16 Feb 1989: "Bertha L. Baer, 83, of Roxton died Saturday, 11 Feb 1989, at Grove Manor Nursing Home in Honey Grove. Services were held Monday, 13 Feb, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church at Roxton with the Rev. Jerry Moore and the Rev. Bergie Thompson officiating. Bright-Holland Funeral Home made burial in Restland Cemetery at Roxton. Mrs. Baer was born 1 Feb 1906, in Harmon, a daughter of George White and Lucy Roberson White. She married Jim Baer on 17 May 1924, in Lamar County. He died 25 Sep 1957. She was custodian at the First Baptist Church in Roxton for 16 years. Surviving are three sons, Wayne Baer of Odessa, Max Baer of Odessa and Larry Baer of Hillsboro; three daughters, Wilma Dunn of Hurst, Thelma Simpkins of Odessa and Peggy Wishard of Honey Grove; one sister, Lucy Mae Holley of Dallas; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Baer."

Tombstone is inscribed with years of birth and death only. Buried next to James Marion Baer.
