THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 12 Jun 1986. 'Funeral services for C.L. Babbitt, 214 Lucy Lane, Wiley, were held Saturday, 7 Jun, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery. Mr. Babbitt died Wednesday in Wiley Hospital. He was born 14 Jul 1919, in Jonesboro, Texas, a son of John and Ora Young Babbitt. He married Gladys Weatheread on 24 Nov 1951, in Carlsbad, N.M. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. Surviving are his wife; one son, Curtis Babbitt of Wiley; five daughters, Jayne Aycott of Tuscon, Ariz., Joanne Gordon of New Orleans, La., Anne Leach of New Orleans, Kaye Blanchard of Wiley and Trina Hood of Texarkana; two brothers, Gene Babbitt of Lubbock and Jack Babbitt of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Johnnie Teague of Quemada, Texas.'

Tombstone is inscribed, 'EM 2, US Navy WW II.' Between Arvil C. Weatherhead Jr. and Georgia F. Whitaker.
