Telitha Hearn was born December 1, 1870 in Lamar Co., Tx to Thomas D Hearn and Telitha Tucker. She died in 1957 in Lamar Co., Tx, and is buried by her husband, two sons and their wives and her mother in Evergreen Cemetery, Paris, Lamar Co., Tx. She was known to the family by the nickname "Sally".
Telitha married Joseph Johnson Wilson on September 31, 1891 in Lamar Co., Tx. Both of them spent their entire lives in Lamar Co., Tx. They were the parents of two boys, Oscar and Clifford who were born in Lamar Co., Tx. and lived their whole lives also in the county. Clifford did enlist and go off to fight in WWI. Joseph Johnson Wilson was the son of Elisha Thomas Wilson and Mary Ann Weatherspoon and the grandson of Wiley Weatherspoon who settled in the county in 1834.
Telitha''s brother Lafayette "Dock" Hearn was the Commissioner of Street in Paris, Tx in the early 1900s.
Telitha Tucker the mother of Telitha Hearn, married a B H Green in Lawrence Co., Tn and they had a child, John C Green born August 14th, 1851. B. H. Green died January , 1852. Goodman Tucker, the father of Telitha, was the executor of his father's will in Tn. along with his brother Bailey, until 1839. They then turned the estate over to a brother. In 1860 Goodman and his wife are found living alone in a household in Lamar Co., Tx. He is 51 and Martha is 50. In a separate household Telitha is living in the household of her brother Bailey and his wife Mary Robertson and their son Goodman who is one month old. At this time Telitha is already married to Thomas Hearn who is not in the household but shows up in the 1870 census. In his cemetery records it states that he is a "Texas veteran" so it is possible that he was off somewhere fighting. The census taker made it appear that her last name was still Tucker and the son that must have been John Green is given the last name Hearn. In addition there is another son, Lafayette Hearn 3 years old. In the years between 1839 and 1860 the family might have been in the Choctaw Nation as a 16 year old Eaton Tucker is living with Bailey and he was born in the Choctaw Nation. There was a Goodman Tucker on the 1840 census of Search Co., Ark and also a James Robertson who could have been the father of Mary who married Goodman''s son Bailey. This would need to be proven.
Goodman Tucker and his wife left Lamar Co., Tx before 1870 and moved to Hopkins Co., Tx. They are found on the census of Sulphur Springs and it looks as if they are raising some grandchildren.
Telitha could trace her heritage back to early Charles City Co., Va. in the early 1600s through her Tucker ancestors. She was the daughter of Telitha Green nee Tucker, who married Thomas D Hearn in Lamar Co., Tx . Thomas is buried in the Wilson Cemetery, Lamar Co., Tx. Telitha Tucker was born on September 8th 1832 . in Lawrence Co., Tn. to Goodman Tucker born 1809 and Martha Tracy born 1811 Goodman was the son of Enoch Tucker who was one of the Commissioners who helped lay out the town of Lawrenceburg, Lawrence Co., Tn. Another of these commissioners was none other than Davy Crockett. Davy later moved to Gibson Co., Tn. and Enoch''s son Bailey moved also, owning land next to Davy in Gibson Co., Tn. Enoch Tucker was born January 4, 1786 in Randolph Co., N C and married Nancy Ann Needham who was born October 10, 1791.
Enoch was the son of William Tucker born about 1751 and Matilda Coates born about 1755. William Tucker was the son of George Tucker b 1723 Prince George Co., Va and Jemima Malone. George Tucker was the son of William Tucker born about 1691 in Charles City Co., Va. and his wife Elizabeth. William was the son of Robert Tucker b about 1652 in Charles City Co., Va. and his wife Elizabeth Coleman. William was also the brother of Captain Robert Tucker who was the ancestor of my husband. There were two Tuckers who came to Jamestown at least by 1623 but there has never been enough proof to tie the family to one of them.
The very large Tucker family is one of the better documented families in the annals of America. Much of this information on the very early Tuckers came about due to the work of DeRoy Beale and a large group of dedicated researchers. The information after 1800 is very well documented for the descendants of Capt. Robert Tucker as his grandson Robert had eight children and seven of them married the children of their neighbors, the Glenns. Abigail Glenn, the mother of those children, was supposedly ½ Choctaw Indian and the families of these Tucker/Glenn marriages became embroiled in a 20 year court battle with the Choctaw Tribe and US Government over their desire to be accepted as tribal members. A cousin found and copied over 800 pages of 8 1/2 by 11 size testimony of these people in which they gave the names of various members of this family including my husband''s grandparents and the way in which they were related to each other and to Robert and Mary Tucker and John and Abigail Glenn. They told of the way many of the family took in their travel to get to the Indian Nation. The family left South Carolina before the Trail of Tears and moved on their own, spreading out from Missouri to Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas before reaching the Indian Nation.
